SIM Bock Eng is a Partner in both the Banking & Insolvency Practice and Intellectual Property Practice.

Her main practice areas are civil litigation, banking and finance litigation, property law, employment law, family law, matrimonial law, trust and probate law and intellectual property.

Recent matters which Bock Eng has been involved in included the landmark decision of United Overseas Bank Ltd v. Bebe bte Mohammad [2006] 4 SLR 884 before the Court of Appeal. Bock Eng successfully represented the Appellant in the decision which critically analysed the doctrine of indefeasibility of title which is central to the land titles registration system in Singapore and the countervailing common law exceptions such as fraud.

Bock Eng represented the Administrators of the Estate of Low Kim Tah in a dispute between the surviving joint account holder and the beneficiaries of the Estate relating to a sum of more than S$4 million which were in various joint accounts. The Court of Appeal decision clarified the law in relation to the law relating to advancement and survivorship in Singapore.

Bock Eng also acts for and advises companies, statutory bodies, trade mark and patents agents both in Singapore and internationally on matters relating to various types of intellectual property rights. Her practice spans both contentious and non-contentious aspects of the intellectual property practice. This ranges from the management and enhancement of the value of portfolios of intellectual property rights, to the structuring of corporate and commercial dealings with intellectual property rights, as well as the enforcement of intellectual property rights across territories.

Bock Eng graduated from the National University of Singapore and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, and to the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales. She has a Joint Master of Business Administration and Laws.

Bock Eng is a mediator with The Small Claims Tribunal, Singapore and a tutor for Trial Advocacy with the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. Bock Eng has also been appointed a Commissioner for Oaths.
