Angela LIM, Partner

Angela LIM is a Partner in the Corporate Real Estate Practice.

Her main practice areas are property-related corporate transactions, real estate disposals, acquisitions, real estate investment trusts, tenders, government land sales, property development, property regulatory and advisory work, leasing, financing, securitisation, commercial contracts and joint ventures.
 
Matters of significance that Angela has been involved in include acting for 79 Anson Pte. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SEB Asian Property Fund SICAVFIS, in its acquisition of 22 strata titles of the 23-storey building located at 79 Anson Road, for approximately S$215 million; acting for Parkway Holdings in its tender for the hospital site at the junction of Novena Terrace and Irrawaddy Road for S$1.25 billion - the land parcel is the first private hospital site made available by the government in 30 years; acting for German fund Union Investment Real Estate AG (the first German fund to purchase real estate in Singapore) in their acquisition of Visioncrest Commercial Block and The House of Tan Yeok Nee (a historic 2-storey house) at a total consideration of S$260 million; and acting for LaSalle Investment Management ("LaSalle") in their S$240 million acquisition of a 100 per cent stake in Merchant Quay Pte Ltd, which owns Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel, and also for LaSalle in the S$168 million financing arranged by Standard Chartered Bank for the acquisition.

Angela also has experience in REITs-related transactions. This includes acting for the Parkway Group, as Sponsor, in the disposal of three Singapore hospitals/medical centres Mount Elizabeth Hospital and the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre Units, Gleneagles Hospital and the Gleneagles Medical Centre Units, and East Shore Hospital, to a real estate investment trust, "Parkway Life REIT" for approximately S$774.6 million, the establishment of which was sponsored by Parkway and in the leaseback of the Properties by Parkway Group, and acting also as counsel to Parkway Life REIT in its listing on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited. She also acted for The Ascott Group Limited, the Sponsor, and Ascott Residence Trust Management Limited, the REIT Manager, in the sale and purchase of 2 Singapore properties as well as 10 foreign properties in the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia collectively worth S$855.8 million for the purposes of injecting the 12 properties into the initial portfolio of Ascott Residence Trust (“ART”) established by the Sponsor, the preferential offering of ART units by the Sponsor to its shareholders in connection with the preferential offering, the proposed modifications to the share plans of the Sponsor and the listing of units in ART on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited.

Angela acted for Pacific Star Prime REIT Management Limited (now known as Macquarie Pacific Star Prime REIT Management Limited), the Manager, in connection with the acquisition by Macquarie MEAG Prime REIT (now known as Macquarie Prime REIT) ("Prime REIT") of a 74 per cent interest in Wisma Atria and a 23 per cent interest in Ngee Ann City, valued at approximately S$1.3 billion, and also acted for Prime REIT in the acquisition, in relation to the offering of units in Prime REIT by the Manager and the listing of the units in Prime REIT on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited.

Angela graduated from the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Singapore Bar. She also holds a Master of Laws from the University of London.
