CHOO Ai Leen, Partner

CHOO Ai Leen is a Partner in the Banking & Finance Practice.

Her main practice areas are banking & finance work including syndicated loans as well as bilateral loans, project finance and security arrangements and documentation.
 
Transactions of significance which Ai Leen has been involved in include acting for the financiers in the bridge facilities to a borrower in connection with its proposed development of an office and retail building and hotel on a site at Marina View, Singapore; acting for Citibank N.A., Singapore Branch and DBS Bank Ltd. in the financing of up to S$140 million to Ascendas Property Fund Trustee Pte. Ltd. (in its capacity as Trustee-Manager for Ascendas India Trust) ("a-iTrust") for the financing of certain construction projects (including a "built-to-suit" project and a construction of a retail mall) and acquisitions in India and working capital requirements of a-iTrust, Singapore’s first listed Indian property business trust; acting for Calyon as mandated lead arranger in the S$232 million syndicated facilities (comprising a senior term loan facility of S$196 million and a junior term loan facility of S$36 million) to a borrower for the acquisition of SIA building; and acting for Millenia Hotel Private Limited in its S$180 million secured financing of Capella, its luxurious hotel resort in Sentosa. On the project finance side, Ai Leen has acted for a pre-qualified bidder, a leading provider of environmental solutions in the financing aspects of a public sewage treatment BOOT project in Abu Dhabi; and the financiers in the "Island Power" Project involving a gas turbine power plant and associated infrastructure to be located on Jurong Island, Singapore, the financiers in the US$1 billion Siltronic/Samsung wafer fabrication plant project, which is a joint venture between a wholly owned subsidiary of Siltronic AG and a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd for the development, construction, ownership and operation of a 300mm silicon wafer production facility located in Singapore.

Ai Leen graduated from the National University of Singapore and obtained a LL.M. from King's College, University of London. She was admitted to the Singapore Bar.
